1. Even though I woke up at 4 am and went into work for a meeting at 6:30 am, I came home and spent the rest of the day in my pjs!
2. Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow! Not a whole lot of snow, but enough for my parents to reschedule their flight for tomorrow!
3. Stamping time with Jackson... expect a card soon! :)

Saturday in the 60s

1. Took Mom and Dad and Melanie and the kids to see the new house this morning. It's still empty, but with bodies in there felt more like home. Kids screaming, adults laughing... Now we just need some furniture.
2. Walked back to Sausalito with Mom and Becky. Awesome closed-in park, cool urban jungle, nice walk on the trail toward Pikes Peak. The weather was unbelievable!
3. Spent most of the day outside - cleaning up the yard, sitting on the deck, playing baseball in the front yard... beautiful!
4. Fish tacos!
5. Lindsay's birthday at John's: good food, good people, cute babies!

What happened to the week?

1. The Peak was beautiful this morning - "purple mountain majesty" - she was right.

2. I love walking into Palmer. Heading up to the third floor. Stepping out into the hallway and walking along the mismatched tile. The view from the window looks out over the north of downtown: church steeples lit by the sun, glowing in the morning light... the tops of the modest buildings... the mountains, embracing all of us who live here, no matter what our differences are. I think about my beginnings, professionally, every day during this short walk. Student teaching at Palmer with Stefanie Pell twelve years ago. Where I've been since then. And coming "home." And I renew my love for my work with every step.

3. "Is that Mr. Ed or a banana???" Oh, Carolyn Derr, how I love to laugh with you!

4. DAC with John and Carolyn at Phantom... Brewery chips. Brings me back to FASDA with with WPMS crew. My life is rich with amazing people.

5. Can't wait to spend the weekend with my parents!!!!!!!

Thursday feels like Friday

1. Snuggling with Matt in the morning. (Of course, then I fell back asleep, woke up at 6:11 am, had a staff meeting at 6:30 am - and managed to make it there only 4 minutes late after a super quick shower, brushing teeth, getting dressed, and getting the heck out of dodge!!!)
2. Palmer High School. Palmer HIgh School makes me happy.
3. Laughing with friends who happen to be colleagues - thanks Ron and Carolyn!
4. Great inspection at the new house!!!!
5. Jack: "Did you know that there are some birds that can break through wood?" Me: "Really? Which ones?" (I was thinking... woodpeckers, yeah, woodpeckers...) Jack: "ANGRY birds!" Heh.

What happened to Wednesday? Time's flying!

Today was one of those days where I was precariously balancing myself between thriving on the stress, and falling over the edge. Looks like I made it, though... Phew!

1. Feeling like I make a difference, in lots of different ways.
2. "I don't think you're creepy, I just think you're Ms. Rewey." Heh. My students make me laugh every day. And not just a shake-my-head-to-myself laugh. BELLY LAUGH. I love what I do.
3. I love my time with Tammy Ko every other week.
4. The sunset tonight, at home alone before the evening began: slow, languid, subtle, crisp, and a beautiful backdrop for the stillnakedtrees.
5. Reading to Jack tonight, and learning about the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.

A slow and sweet end to a crazy and hectic day.

Tuesday

What a great day!!!

1. I love my job. I really do! I work with passionate, intelligent, thoughtful, invigorating people who want to do what's best for students. How much fun is that???
2. Lunch (though not eating) with two of those people.
3. Poetry and paintings. Words that mean something.
4. An hour on the treadmill all to myself (and CSI).
5. A quiet evening at home - just me and the Si-Guy (who's already snoozing upstairs). And Obama.

Monday, is that you?

1. I decided to call Becky on the way to work this morning... We were still chatting away when I got to work, and as I got out of the car I began to do a mental inventory of all that I needed. Bag? Check. Lunch? Check. Lock the door? Check. As I walked to the corner to cross the street, still talking to my sister, I began to mechanically pat my pockets down. Front, back, jackets... Finally, I interrupted my sister and said, "SHIT! Where's my phone?" And then we had a good laugh about that one...
2. Book club today was mighty fun, with Pete, Steve and Lindsay. Good discussion, good food, good wine.
3. Running to the mailbox and back with Jack.
4. Watching Simon crawl across the floor. It's amazing how good he's gotten in such a short time.
5. Bathtime with two boys - they are so fun to watch play and splash in the tub. Simon was sitting up and grabbing at toys that floated by. Jack was putting on the scuba mask and "diving" into the water, holding his breath, and finding hairs to give me (gross!).
6. Cuddling with Jack on the couch, sans TV, with the words of Poems, Prayers and Promises floating around in my head. What an amazing song...

Day 2 of contract with myself.

2. Got some work done.
3. Looked at some houses.
4. Locked my keys in the car, with the car running! :) Seriously, makes me laugh! And that I know I can call my hubby and, though he'll make fun of me and be pissed for a bit, he'll come get me cuz he loves me for who I am. Keys locked in the running car and all.
5. My community: Came home with an extra kid tonight, listened to the kids chat and plot, had impromptu dinner with friends, and planned our futures with each other in mind.

I love this place and time.

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Sunday with Jackson

1. Treadmill time.
2. FREE, unexpected, last minute tickets to the Broncos game! Woot! Jack and I had so much fun at his first live football game! Go Broncos!
3. After the game, we got to go out on the field and play around! They were, unfortunately, all out of footballs by the time we got out there. It made me sad to see Jack - knowing that some other kids had footballs and he didn't. He said, "I bet someone will share with me." And he was right! Some people standing in line waiting to kick a field goal lent us their football for a few minutes - it made Jack's night! He was so happy to have a football for a few minutes, and so good natured about giving it back. I love my kid.
4. On the long and cold walk back to the car, Jack found pieces of ice and snow for us to kick along the whole way! So much fun!
5. I lost my car. This doesn't really surprise me, or anyone who knows me well. So Boppy came out and drove us around until we found it. Jack said, "Mom, remember that you parked by the water!" Oh yeah, I sure did - he's so smart, such a trooper, and he definitely made my day.

1. Cuddling with Simon and watching crime shows for a majority of the day.
2. Made fresh cranberry vinaigrette that was so yummy on the spinach, pecan, blue cheese salad.
3. Hanging out with the Marsden Loetschers.

5. Jack falling asleep on the couch - too cute!
